What We Did Not Notice
When we first arrived, the meeting was simply there. Someone knew where it happened. A room was open. There were chairs, books, and people willing to stay afterward. We had enough on our minds without wondering how any of that came together. Later we begin to notice how much ordinary effort was waiting behind the welcome we received.
Gratitude can deepen when those details become visible. The Fellowship did not reach us through good feelings alone. People gave time, money, attention, and patience, often without knowing who would benefit. We need not repay them personally or reproduce everything they did. We can take our place in the practical work that allows somebody else to arrive and find help already available. What once seemed like the background of recovery turns out to have been part of its generosity. Somebody cared about a person they had not met yet.
What made help available to me before I knew enough to ask how it was provided?
There was work behind the welcome.
