The person who needs a meeting tonight may know nothing about our Fellowship. They may be sitting outside a locked building, wondering whether they have the courage to try another door. An accurate meeting listing or a clearly marked entrance can matter more at that moment than anything we might say once they get inside.
Attraction involves making help available. The Eleventh Tradition grew alongside A.A.’s recognition that people needed to hear about us. We can explain what A.A. offers and how to reach us while keeping individual personalities out of the spotlight. There is quiet humility in checking a telephone number, correcting an address, or making sure someone will answer an inquiry. These tasks seldom bring applause. They make it possible for a person we have never met to find the help we once needed.
